5 Simple Ways to Teach Your Child the Stories of the Qur’an

Passing on the stories of the Qur’an to our children is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. But between busy schedules and the challenge of explaining complex lessons in a child-friendly way, it’s not always easy.

The good news? With a little creativity, we can make these stories part of our children’s everyday lives.

Here are five simple ways to start:

1. Read Together Daily

Set aside even 10 minutes a day to read a story with your child. Consistency is more important than length. These short, regular sessions build connection and routine.

2. Ask Reflective Questions

After reading, pause and ask: “What do you think Prophet Yusuf (AS) felt in this moment?” or “How can we be patient like Prophet Ayyub (AS)?” This helps children move from just hearing a story to truly thinking about it.

3. Connect to Real Life

Link lessons to your child’s daily experiences. For example, after reading about Prophet Musa’s (AS) courage, you might say: “When you stand up for your friend at school, that’s a little like the bravery Prophet Musa showed.”

4. Use Creative Activities

Children learn by doing. Simple crafts, drawing, role-play, or journaling can bring the stories to life. That’s why every Hidayasira book includes activities designed to help children apply what they’ve learned.

5. Model the Lessons Yourself

Children imitate what they see. When they watch you practice patience, gratitude, or honesty, the stories they’ve read become real in their eyes.
