Teaching Our Children the Stories of the Qur’an: Why It Matters

As parents, we all want the best for our children ~ not only in school, friendships, and opportunities, but also in their faith and character. The Qur’an is filled with timeless lessons, yet sometimes it can feel difficult to explain those lessons in a way that young hearts truly understand.

That’s where storytelling comes in. Children connect deeply with stories. When we share the lives of the Prophets with them ~ their struggles, patience, courage, and trust in Allah ~ the stories don’t just stay on the page. They become examples to live by.

At Hidayasira, we design every book with this purpose:

Storytelling ~ to capture a child’s imagination.

Reflection ~ to help them pause and think about what the story means in their own lives.

Practice ~ with activities that encourage them to apply what they’ve learned in everyday moments.

For example, when a child reads about Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his unwavering faith in Allah, the lesson doesn’t end with the story.

They’re guided to reflect: How can I show trust in Allah when I’m scared or unsure? Then, through simple activities, they can put that trust into action.

In this way, the stories of the Qur’an are no longer distant history ~ they become living guidance for our children.

Because knowledge lights the mind, but guidance lights the heart.
